Two-time Indy 500 winner Emerson Fittipaldi said he won’t be racing this year but hasn’t decided yet about retirement.

A newspaper report touched off speculation about Fittipaldi’s retirement at the Metro-Dade Homestead Motorsports Complex, where the top Indy-car racers are gathered this week for spring training.

At Daytona Beach, Fla., Fermin Velez of Spain drove his Ferrari 333SP World Sports Car to the pole position for this weekend’s Rolex 24-Hour sports car endurance race.

Race driver Davy Jones, injured in practice last week for the Indy 200 in Florida, has been upgraded to fair condition.
