Former UW Star Rogers Charged With Dui

Former Detroit Lion Reggie Rogers, who was convicted of negligent homicide in the 1988 traffic deaths of three teenagers in Michigan, has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol here.

Rogers appeared in Seattle Municipal Court on Monday, and a trial date was set for March 11. Rogers registered a .208 percent blood-alcohol level, above the city’s limit of .08 percent, when tested after a May 15 traffic stop, police reports show.

Rogers had been stopped by police for driving erratically. He also was driving without his headlights on. He was cited for the traffic violations and booked into the King County jail for investigation of driving under the influence. Court records also show that Rogers was charged with DUI by police in Bellevue, but the charges were dropped after he completed probation and an alcohol diversion program.

Rogers, 33, of Seattle, was a college star for the Washington Huskies and was the seventh overall pick in the 1987 NFL draft.
