Belfour, Ellett Move On

Compiled From Wire Services

Goaltender Ed Belfour and defenseman Dave Ellett were among free agents signing with new National Hockey League teams.

Belfour signed a three-year contract with the Dallas Stars and Ellett a three-year deal with the Boston Bruins. Also, the New York Islanders picked up Sergei Nemchinov.

In signing Belfour, the Stars turned their backs on veteran Andy Moog, whom they chose not to re-sign.

The Detroit Red Wings re-signed forward Martin Lapointe, who scored a career-high 16 goals last season, to a four-year contract.
