Helen (Hill) Bumgardner Hayden Lake

Service for Helen Elsie (Hill) Bumgardner, 60, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Hunt Cemetery in Kingston, Idaho.

Mrs. Bumgardner, who was born in Kingston, died Tuesday from cancer.

She graduated from high school in Kingston in 1954.

Mrs. Bumgardner worked at Kellogg Hospital for 10 years as a housekeeper before becoming a nurse’s aide.

She later moved to Hayden Lake and worked for Advanced Input Devices until retiring due to health reasons.

Two husbands preceded her in death, George Hill and Earl Bumgardner.

Mrs. Bumgardner is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Ann Baldwin of Rathdrum; two stepdaughters, Carolyn Harris of Post Falls and Charlene Tucker of Hayden Lake; two sons, George Hill of Montana and Jerry Hill of Hayden Lake; three stepsons, Mike Bumgardner of Nebraska, Dan Bumgardner of Pinehurst, Idaho, and Steve Bumgardner of Kingston; two brothers, Warren and Chuck McGillivray, both of Kingston; and numerous grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the North Idaho Cancer Center, 700 Ironwood Drive, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.

Dolly Johnson Coeur d’Alene

Visitation for Dolly Mabel Johnson, 83, will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Service is set for 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Johnson, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Tuesday.

She was a homemaker and had lived in Coeur d’Alene until moving away from the area from 1962 to 1978.

Ms. Johnson was a member of the Lincoln Way Church of God and the Coeur d’Alene Eagles Lodge where she served as the first Madame President.

Survivors include four sons, Donald and Bill Andersen, both of Lewiston, Idaho, Dick Andersen of Montana, and Charles Andersen of Post Falls; a daughter, Beverly Johnson of Post Falls; and 11 grandchildren.

Helen (Pringle) Anderson Spokane

Memorial service for Helen (Pringle) Anderson, 89, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Westminster Congregational Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Anderson, who was born in Warsaw, Ind., died Tuesday.

She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and attended Washington State University.

In 1929 she married Charles Anderson in Spokane. He died in 1979.

Mrs. Anderson was a 75-year Spokane resident and a member of the Rachel Chapter at the Westminster Congregational Church and the Alpha Delta Phi Sorority at WSU.

She served as a Gray Lady during World War II.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by three sons, James Anderson of Priest Lake, Idaho, Robert Anderson of Spokane, and John Anderson of Seattle; a daughter, Joanne Spencer of Burney, Calif.; two brothers, Harold Pringle of Richland and Arthur Pringle of Seattle; a sister, Jean Swanson of Seattle; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Wishing Star Foundation.

Laura ‘Maxine’ Smith Fairfield, Wash.

A gathering for Laura “Maxine” Smith, 60, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Park in Sandpoint. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.

Mrs. Smith, who was a longtime Fairfield resident, died June 25.

She was born in Sandpoint.

She graduated from Sandpoint High School and later worked as a bookkeeper for Hydraulics Plus and for the family business, Wheatland Heating.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, James “Bill” Smith; two sons, Jon and Mark Smith, both of Spokane; her mother, Leila Witherell of Sandpoint; a sister, Janet Owens of Sandpoint; and seven grandchildren.

Allen ‘Bud’ McPherson Bonners Ferry

Private family service for Allen LaRue “Bud” McPherson, 70, was held. Bonners Ferry Funeral is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McPherson died June 26.

He grew up and attended schools in Bonners Ferry, where he played trumpet and basketball.

Mr. McPherson served in the Army during World War II and later lived in Alaska.

He returned to Bonners Ferry in the early 1970s and worked at the Louisiana-Pacific mill from 1974 until he retired in 1990.

Survivors include four sons, Roderick, Gorden, Michael and Allen; and six grandchildren, Lia, Margaret, Mike, Matt, Curtis, and Kevin.

Benton Potter Colbert

Service for Benton G. Potter, 94, is planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Sunset Mausoleum at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Potter, who was born in Kansas, died Wednesday.

He worked as a pot man for Kaiser Aluminum in Mead and retired in 1967.

Mr. Potter was also a farmer in the Summit Valley area west of Addy, Wash., from 1957 to 1995.

In 1995 he moved to Colbert.

His wife Pauline, died in 1984.

Mr. Potter is survived by two daughters Juanita Salazar of Spokane and Lucretia Carlson of Moscow, Idaho; four sons, Barney Potter of Colbert, Daris Potter of Quesnel, British Columbia, Ray Potter of Chattaroy, and Larry Potter of Woodland, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Alice Haller Spokane

Visitation for Alice Haller, 86, is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Marshall (Wash.) Cemetery.

Mrs. Haller, who was born on the family homestead in the Cheney/ Spangle area, died Sunday.

In 1921 her family moved to a farm on Paradise Prairie. In 1987 she moved to Spokane.

Survivors include a sister, Nelle Bell of Coeur d’Alene.

Delbert Marr Deer Park

Graveside service for Delbert Marr, 80, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Spokane Memorial Gardens. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Marr, who was born in Keystone, Wash., died Tuesday.

He graduated from Lamont (Wash.) High School and later served in the Navy with the P.T. Boat Division during World War II. He also served in the Korean War.

In 1945 he married Melda Cull in Providence, R.I. and later worked as a truck driver for Darigold.

In 1962 they moved to a farm in Deer Park and raised Registered Polled Herford cattle, grains, and hay.

Mr. Marr was named Spokane County Farmer of the year in 1970.

He was a member of P.T. Boaters Incorporated, Deer Park Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post No. 3067, and the Deer Park Eagles Lodge No. 3564.

Mr. Marr is survived by his wife; and stepbrother, Jack Fowler of Spokane.

Roy Harshman Mukilteo, Wash.

Graveside service for Roy Gerald Harshman, 79, was Thursday at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Born in Minnesota, Mr. Harshman died June 27.

He moved to Newport, Wash., with his family in 1927. He lived in Spokane for 51 years before moving to Mukilteo last year.

Mr. Harshman served in the Army during World War II.

He worked as a furnace operator for Kaiser Aluminum in Mead for 34 years. He retired in 1981.

Mr. Harshman is survived by his wife of 49 years, Wilma; four daughters, Sally Emote of Edmonds, Wash., Stacie Lee of Ferndale, Wash., Sheila White of Herndon, Wash., and Sharon Peterson of Oregon City, Ore.; two sisters, Vivian Chenoweth and Norma Siebenforcher, both of Spokane; a brother, Ray Harshman of Spokane; five grandchildren one great-grandchild.
