Surgeons Discover Fetus In Boy’s Stomach

Compiled From Wire Services

Doctors operating on a 16-year-old who suffered intense abdominal pain found the remains of a fetus - the boy’s twin - instead of the tumor they had expected.

Demerdash Hospital surgeons said they removed 4-1/2 pounds of a deformed and underdeveloped fetus from Hisham Ragab’s abdomen on Tuesday.

The doctors attributed the phenomenon to the improper splitting of a fertilized ovum. A proper division would produce twins.

Ragab, a construction worker, should be released next week, doctors said.
