House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s reputation for being mean is giving way to a new image - lean. A slimmed-down Gingrich appeared Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation” looking trim and said that at 54, he had finally discovered that diet and exercise actually work. “I just looked at myself in January and decided I needed a New Year’s resolution, and I stuck to it,” Gingrich said. The Georgia Republican has lost about 25 pounds so far, and he said he hopes to lose another 15 or 20 pounds.
