UW Second At Henley Regatta

Compiled From Wire Services

The Augusta Rowing Center won the prestigious Queen Mother Cup for quadruple sculls at the Henley Royal Regatta.

Cyrus Beasley, Brad Layton, Chris Duffy and Ryan Jamieson was the only U.S. crew to win on the final day of competition. They led all the way against the British crew from Queen’s Tower and Poplar club.

In the day’s final race, the University of Washington’s eight lost by one foot to the lightweight crew from Notts County and Oxford Brookes University. The time of 6 minutes, 11 seconds, was only two seconds off the time recorded by the Australian national eight which won the regatta’s premier event, the Grand Cup.
