Suggestions Sought On Serving Older And Disabled People

From Staff And Wire Reports

The office of Aging and Long Term Care of Eastern Washington is gathering community input to help update the agency’s plan for serving older and disabled people in 1998.

Public hearings will be held in Spokane and Colfax, and interested people can call the department or send e-mail until July 18. Copies of the agency’s area plan are available at public libraries in Eastern Washington and from the agency itself.

The office wants answers to these questions:

What are the greatest problems facing older and disabled people in Ferry, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens and Whitman counties?

What could be done to solve these problems?

One public meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Whitman County commissioners’ meeting room in the Public Service Building at 310 N. Main in Colfax.

Another meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Room 140 of the Spokane Regional Health District Building at 1101 W. College Ave. in Spokane.

The agency’s e-mail address is altcew@cet.com and the phone number is (509) 458-2509, extension 206.
