Another 14-Year-Old Boy Arrested In Rape Of Toddler

A second 14-year-old boy has been arrested in the rape of a Spokane toddler July 4.

The boy is being held in juvenile detention on charges of first-degree rape and second-degree assault, the same charges facing the other suspect who was arrested late on the Fourth. Spokane police said. He also is suspected of hitting the child in the face while she screamed, police said.

The teens were baby-sitting the 1-year-old girl while her mother went to Coeur d’Alene with friends about 5 p.m. When they returned about 10 p.m. they found the toddler with a cut lip and facial injuries, police said.

It was discovered the girl had been raped after an examination at an area hospital. She underwent surgery for her injuries.

A police investigation continues.
