Ex-Tiger Dies Suddenly

Dwight Lowry, a minor league manager for the Detroit Tigers and a member of their 1984 World Series championship team, died Thursday morning after collapsing outside his home.

The 39-year-old Lowry, who had a history of heart problems, slumped to the ground while taking out the trash. He was pronounced dead at 1:10 a.m. at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, N.Y. The cause of death was not immediately known.

Stan Rojek, an infielder who played for four major league teams during an eight-year career in the 1940s and ‘50s has died in North Tonawanda, N.Y., after a long illness. He was 78.
