Seattle Gains Direct Flights To Amsterdam

From Staff And Wire Reports

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines said Thursday it will start a joint service with its U.S. partner Northwest Airlines Corp. between Seattle and Amsterdam, from April 5, 1998.

The direct service, with daily flights between Amsterdam and Seattle, will operate Northwest DC-10 aircraft.

Seattle is the 13th U.S. city served by such a joint arrangement between the airlines.

KLM and Northwest have recently held high level negotiations in the United States, sparking unconfirmed market rumors that KLM is seeking to reduce its 19.5 percent stake in Northwest, and possibly use the capital for a new European partner.
