Gores’ Daughter Weds N.Y. Physician

Compiled From Wire Services

Al and Tipper Gore’s eldest daughter married a New York physician Saturday in a Washington National Cathedral ceremony.

Episcopal Bishop Ronald Haines, whose diocese is based in the cathedral, presided over the wedding of Karenna Gore, 23, with ministers chosen by the vice president’s family and the family of the groom, New York physician Andrew Schiff, 31.

The couple’s honeymoon destination was not disclosed.

Aretha Franklin, known as the Queen of Soul, performed at the reception.

The groom is a primary care physician at New York Hospital. The bride, most recently an editorial assistant at Microsoft Corp.’s Slate magazine near Seattle, will enter law school at Columbia University this fall.

Their match brings together one of America’s most prominent political families with one of Wall Street wealth and influence. The groom’s father, David Schiff, is managing partner of the investment banking firm Kuhn, Loeb & Co. and a trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
