The late-night roar of a moped engine spurred the arrest last week of three Spokane Valley teenagers.
Sheriff’s deputies, checking on a complaint from a resident awakened around 2:30 a.m. last Thursday by the noise of the motorbike, saw the teens dive into bushes and hide.
Deputies began chasing the suspects, capturing one and later picking up the other two. The three boys were 16 and 17 years old.
All three were charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission, a Class C felony. The teens were booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.
The 50cc moped, found at Valleyway and Felts Road, was returned to the owner.
