Arco, Boundary County Get Block Grants

Associated Press

Gov. Phil Batt’s says two $500,000 state economic development grants he says will help improve the quality of life in Arco and Boundary County.

The governor’s office on Friday announced the community development block grants.

Arco will use its $500,000 grant to construct new sidewalks, install street lights and reconstruct curbs and storm drains for water and snow runoff. Two major intersecting streets, Front Street and Grand Avenue, will be the primary focus of revitalization efforts. A local improvement district will provide $150,000 for the project and the city will contribute $30,000.

Boundary County plans to use its $500,000 to complete the $6.6 million Cabinet Mountain water system project. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is a major funding source.
