From Staff And Wire Reports

Several gunshots were fired from a car during two passes the vehicle took through a Coeur d’Alene neighborhood early Friday. No one was injured.

It was not known who or what may have been the target. No damage to houses, street lights or signs was reported.

Police collected seven empty .22-caliber shell casings from Emma Avenue between Melrose Street and Nora Street.

Witnesses said they heard as many as nine gunshots near Melrose Street and Emma Avenue during the two incidents, according to the Coeur d’Alene Police.

According to residents, the first three shots were fired about 1 a.m., followed by up to six more about 30 minutes later.

Two woman told police they saw a car driving eastbound on Emma Avenue toward Lincoln Way following the second round of gunshots. They did not see what type of car it was or who was inside, police said.
