Cunanan’s Name, Location Sent To Police

From Wire Reports

Investigators were sent information on where to find suspected killer Andrew Cunanan days before he allegedly gunned down fashion mogul Gianni Versace.

Cunanan - then wanted by the FBI in connection with four murders - had filled out a pawn slip with his real name, hotel and room number two weeks ago.

Cunanan pawned a gold coin, allegedly stolen from a murder victim in Chicago, on July 7 at a Miami Beach pawnshop.

Information on the pawn slip would have told investigators exactly where to look for the man who already had earned a spot on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list: Room 205 of the Normandy Plaza hotel.

Vivian Oliva, a clerk at the pawnshop, said she mailed Cunanan’s pawn slip to the police the next day, as required by law.

It’s not clear whether police received that receipt or what they did with it. Calls to the Miami Beach police were not returned.
