A man who works two jobs scooped up $100,000 cash when bags of money fell off an armored truck, then returned the money after three days of worries.
Craig Alcantara said he dreamed of using the cash for a better life - he has a 2-month-old daughter and earns $25,000 a year - but feared police would track him down.
“You don’t think about what you’re doing. You just pick it up,” he said, after turning the cash over to Michigan State Police on Friday. “I swear, I wish I didn’t go down I-75 that day.”
The Wolverine Dispatch Inc. truck popped open and spilled about $247,000 during Tuesday’s afternoon rush hour near Detroit.
Alcantara got caught in a shower of cash, and took home one of two bags that dropped off the truck.
