Riding Lawn Mower Carries Man To His Death

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man fell 200 feet to his death when his riding lawn mower went over a cliff.

Ken Campbell, 55, of Woodinville, started mowing the lawn Friday afternoon at his vacation property just east of Port Angeles, Clallam County deputies said.

He turned sharply to avoid the cliff. The mower rolled and tumbled along with Campbell down the sandstone bluff to the rocky beach below, deputies said.

A neighbor who noticed the man’s motor home door was open checked and found the vehicle empty. The neighbor then found Campbell and notified authorities. Neighbors told investigators the mower was having mechanical problems. A deputy said it was found locked in high gear.
