Cal Groen To Head Clearwater
Cal Groen, a senior Fish and Game Department administrator for the last seven years, has been named Clearwater Region supervisor at Lewiston.
Groen, a 23-year veteran of fish and wildlife agencies in Idaho, Washington and Kansas, will replace Herb Pollard, who retired in April.
“I love the outdoors and the field, and I think there’s no greater spot than the Clearwater Region,” he said.
He has been natural resources policy bureau chief at Boise since 1990.
Before he was appointed, Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission members invited him to apply as their agency’s director. Groen made the final list of candidates for that position before the Oregon commission decided to select an internal candidate last week.
Groen worked eight years with the Washington Wildlife Department and was assistant director. From 1973-83 he worked for the Kansas Fish and Game Commission.
