Man Listed In Fair Condition Following Logging Accident

A 38-year-old Pinehurst man was seriously injured in a logging accident Wednesday morning.

Kenneth Kurrelmeyer was listed in fair condition at Kootenai Medical Center.

Kurrelmeyer was hit by a tree while working in a ravine in Longlois Creek, near the West Fork of Pine Creek. He sustained head and chest injuries, according to the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Department.

Kurrelmeyer was reported conscious and able to talk, but was having difficulty breathing.

The Medstar Air Ambulance was called. However, Kurrelmeyer had to be carried to the top of a hill, loaded into a the Kellogg Community Ambulance, and driven to a suitable landing spot for the helicopter.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
