Bank Robber Bungles Theft Of An Atm Card

From Staff And Wire Reports

Anthony T. Harris may have thought luck was with him after the courts gave him a second chance following his robbery of a Lewiston Orchards bank last year.

But, just weeks after being released after six months at the North Idaho Correctional Institution in Cottonwood, Harris’ lucky streak ran out.

He stole an acquaintance’s ATM card April 3 and tried to use it at the Key Bank in Lewiston, Harris admitted to 2nd District Judge Ida Leggett.

Undaunted by the machine’s refusal of his request for cash, the Lewiston man walked inside the bank and asked an employee what the problem with the card was.

The problem was the card had been reported stolen and the employee, who remembered Harris from the news reports about the bank robbery, called police.

A few days later, state parole officers arrested Harris. He admitted to Leggett he had stolen the card and had marijuana in his system.
