UW Student Drowns While Skinny-Dipping

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 19-year-old University of Washington student apparently drowned early Wednesday after going for a late-night swim in Green Lake, police said.

A group of friends decided to go skinny-dipping at the popular north Seattle lake when the accident occurred, police said.

A team of divers recovered the man’s body early Wednesday morning. He had been in the water for more than an hour when he was discovered under a pier.

Rescue workers were unable to revive him, police said.

The King County medical examiner’s office identified the man as Jason Arreola of Silverdale.

Police said grief counselors were called out to talk to the group of friends, who saw rescue workers recover the victim’s body.

Alcohol did not seem to be involved in the drowning, police said.
