New 50 Fits The Bill

The Treasury Department is unveiling a new $50 bill packed with high-tech features designed to thwart counterfeiters from effectively using advanced technologies to produce near-duplicates. The most visible difference is an enlarged, off-center portrait of President Ulysses S. Grant on the front and a large “50” on the bottom right-hand corner of the back. Joining last year’s $100 bill, it will be followed by redesigned $20 notes next year. Other currency denominations will be revamped later.
