Spokane Police Identify Homicide Victim Found In Field

From Staff And Wire Reports

Spokane police have released the name of the homicide victim whose body was found Monday in a field near Fifth and Maple.

An autopsy concluded Mark Pierce, 42, died of severe head trauma.

“It looked like someone had bashed in the man’s head while he slept,” police Lt. Jerry Oien said.

Pierce had a Colorado driver’s license and his parents live in that state, said police spokesman Dick Cottam.

Robbery may have been the motive for the killing, Cottam said.
