Woman Charged With Assault

A 33-year-old Spokane Valley woman was arrested for attempted second-degree assault early Thursday after her roommate said she chased him with a large kitchen knife.

Glenda C. Francis, 1221 S. Bettman, was booked into Spokane County Jail after deputies investigated a domestic violence assault at that address.

The victim, a 47-year-old male, told deputies he pushed the woman off him after she sat down on his legs while he was lying on the couch, Sheriff’s Department spokesman Dave Reagan said.

The man said the woman became angry, threw a telephone at him and confronted him with the knife. The man tried to kick the woman in the stomach to disarm her after she swung the knife at him several times, Reagan said.

No one was injured.
