Mcchord To Get New Commander In July

Associated Press

An executive from the Pentagon will take over next month as commander of the McChord Air Force Base 62nd Airlift Wing.

Col. Arthur F. “Chip” Diehl, executive officer for the Air Force’s vice chief of staff at the Pentagon, will be installed at a change of command ceremony July 22.

He replaces Brig. Gen. Duncan McNabb, who is being transferred to Scott Air Force Base, Ill. McNabb will take command of the Air Force’s Tanker Airlift Control Center.

McNabb, wing commander since last July, said the normal command tour of 18 months was shortened for him because he was promoted to major general shortly after he arrived at McChord. He expressed regret at leaving the base.

“My time spent at McChord could not have been more exciting, more challenging, more rewarding,” he said.
