Blood-Alcohol Tests Offered At Bar

From Staff And Wire Reports

In anticipation of the July 1 lowering of Idaho’s legal blood-alcohol level, the Coeur d’Alene police department plans to give bar patrons a chance to measure their own alcohol levels for free.

It’s now against the law to drive a vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of 0.10 percent or higher, but that will be lowered to 0.08 percent as of July 1.

The free testing is to give patrons a chance to find out how many drinks it takes for them to get to that level.

Two members of the Coeur d’Alene Police Community Accident Reduction through Education team will be at Cricket’s Restaurant and Oyster Bar next Friday from 6-8 p.m. with a device that measures the blood-alcohol levels.

“Hopefully we won’t scare them away,” joked officer Coby Langley. , DataTimes
