Flames Coach Resigns
Pierre Page stepped down as coach of the Calgary Flames after losing out in a contract dispute with the team.
Page’s current deal would have expired at the end of next season. He was looking for a two-year extension, but didn’t get it.
The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired the rights to center Martin Cerven, a former Spokane Chief, from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a seventh-round pick in Saturday’s NHL entry draft.
Cerven, 20, had 27 goals and 25 assists for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL last season.
