Streeter Transfers To Nic

Former Wallace High track and field standout Dana Streeter is transferring to North Idaho College, NIC coach Mike Bundy announced.

Streeter won Idaho Class A-3 state titles in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump. She attended the University of Nevada last year.

NIC also signed Chewelah’s Deanne Perkins. She was fifth at Washington Class A state in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles. She also plans on playing volleyball at NIC.

Stars exhibitions

Three national tournament-bound Spokane Stars AAU girls basketball teams will play in a doubleheader tonight at North Idaho College.

The U-17 and U-16 teams face off at 6, followed at 8 by the U-18 team taking on the North Idaho All-Stars, a combination of college and former high school players.

Cost is $3, $2 for children and senior citizens. All players from the NIC camp will be admitted free if wearing a camp T-shirt.

Holes in one

It was a good day Wednesday to be at Avondale Golf Club.

Two golfers recorded aces within an hour of each other. And one of the golfers fell 6 inches short of two holes in one in the same round.

Russ Gillaspie of Post Falls aced No. 5, a 106-yard par-3, with a 9-iron. An hour later, Hank Gordon of Rodeo, Calif., used a sand wedge on the same hole.

Another hour later, Gordon stuck a wedge 6 inches from the cup on the 128-yard 11th hole.

Gordon, visiting friends in the area, had never played Avondale before Wednesday.
