Former Coach Gets 18 Years For Molesting 6th-Grade Boys

A former Nampa School District sports coach and teacher’s aide has been sentenced to up to 18 years in prison for repeatedly molesting two sixth-grade boys he had befriended.

Ruben Cerda, 42, must serve at least three years before 3rd District Judge James Morfitt said he could be considered for parole.

Cerda admitted in April that he had fondled the 11-year-old and 12-year-old boys for an entire year before the boys finally leveled the molestation charges against him last November.

Since then, 11 other people told police Cerda had molested them as well - one incident dating back 22 years.
