Woman Frightened To Death By Robbers

Associated Press

A woman leaped to her death out a sixth-floor window after two burglars broke in and ransacked the apartment, apparently too terrified to realize the men had already fled.

Liza Fuzayalova, 46, her mother, two other women and two children were in the mother’s apartment when the robbers forced their way in.

Fuzayalova ran into a bathroom, said police spokeswoman Olga Mercado.

No one else was injured, but the bandits ransacked the apartment before fleeing. Cowering in the bathroom, Fuzayalova apparently panicked when she heard her relatives knocking on the door, telling her she could come out.

The investigation was hampered by the women’s inability to speak English, police said. The family is from Uzbekistan.
