Garland’s Debut Film Now On Video

Judy Garland’s debut and breakthrough performance in the 1936 film “Pigskin Parade” is available for the first time on home video.

The musical comedy also features Betty Grable, Jack Haley (Tin Man in “Wizard of Oz”) and Patsy Kelly. The movie is about a football team and a farmhand whose ability to throw melons enables him to become the star passer for Texas State in its big game against Yale.

Three engaging song-and-dance numbers by Garland include “I Can Sing! Ya Wanna Hear Me?” Critics at the time called her the most talented young entertainer to arrive on screen.

Garland went on to star in more than 40 feature films, more than 200 radio programs, 50 recordings and 60 television programs. Even 38 years after her death, she has millions of fans, transcending age groups.

The 94-minute video has been released by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and is listed at $19.98.
