She’s Never Been One To Show Much Restraint
New York City officials have caught Madonna with her guard down - or, more precisely, her daughter’s.
In a recent newspaper photo showing 8-month-old Lourdes on her nanny’s lap, peering out of Madonna’s fifth-floor apartment overlooking Central Park, City Councilman Kenneth Fisher noticed there weren’t any window guards.
In the wake of several tragedies - including the death of Eric Clapton’s 4-year-old son in a fall from a 53rd floor penthouse in 1991 - the city now requires that windows in homes with small children be protected with the steel, cage-like bars.
“I sent a letter to Madonna congratulating her on her beautiful baby and said that in no time at all she’s going to be toddling around. It wasn’t too soon to start thinking about putting up window guards,” Fisher said.

Madonna, by the way, is not particularly popular with her neighbors to begin with. It seems that every time she and boy toy Carlos Leon have one of their periodic breakups, the building’s garage locks are changed and everybody has to get new keys.

Looks like it’s time for another Babywatch. Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee announced in a radio interview last week that he and his wife, former “Baywatch” babe Pamela Anderson Lee, are expecting another child. Their son, Brandon, is a year old.
Nest? Well, maybe she really is a hatcher
Teri Hatcher (“Lois & Clark”) denies reports that she got pregnant to save her marriage to actor Jon Tenney. “The truth is I’ve had two weeks off in five years,” says Hatcher, who’s finishing work on the latest James Bond movie. “This is a good time to refuel myself. To move to a different stage. To nest, to read.”
But it would probably need a new battery
Adam West, the original television Batman, hopes to play the Caped Crusader’s long-lost uncle in the next big-screen sequel. “I could even wear my old tights, after getting all the mothballs out of it, and come back in the original Batmobile,” West, 67, told the New York Post.
At 65, shouldn’t he be going to Gold’s to watch?
Peter Lupus, the brawny actor from the old “Mission: Impossible” TV show, celebrated his 65th birthday by lifting a total of 60,000 pounds in a half-hour at Gold’s Gym in North Hollywood. “I don’t ever want to be 65 again,” said the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Lupus. “It’s probably the most difficult 30 minutes that I have ever been through.”
