Palmer Powers Starzz’s Victory

Wendy Palmer scored 28 points, 18 of them in the first half, as the Utah Starzz overcame a 17-point first-half deficit to beat the Los Angeles Sparks 102-89 Monday night in Salt Lake City.

Deborah Carter and Elena Baranova added 16 points each for the Starzz, and reserves Kim Williams and Dena Head each had 13 points.

Lisa Leslie led Los Angeles with 22 points and 10 rebounds.

Ruthi Bolton-Holifield scored 27 points for Sacramento. Her family sang the national anthem for the enthusiastic fans, significant because the 1996 Olympian has 19 brothers and sisters.
