Some Interesting Facts About Fruit

Chicago Tribune

Some facts about fruit:

An unpeeled apple is a good source of fiber, but provides only about 10 percent of the daily allowance for vitamin C.

A cup of fresh blueberries contains considerable fiber and about one-third of the RDA for vitamin C, plus some potassium, iron and vitamin A.

Cantaloupe is nutrient-packed, perhaps more than any other single fruit. Half a melon provides more than 100 percent of the RDAs for vitamins A and C, plus considerable potassium.

A half-cup of fresh strawberries has only 37 calories but provides the daily RDA for vitamin C. But you need to keep the green stem caps intact until just before eating. Most of the vitamin C is near the stem.
