Teen Found Stabbed Near Dutch Jake Park

From Staff Reports

A teenage boy was stabbed before dawn Tuesday as he and a friend walked near Spokane’s Dutch Jake Park, police said.

The victim, 17, underwent surgery and was in serious condition at an undisclosed local hospital Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred about 3 a.m. in an alley near the park at Chestnut and College, police said.

The victim’s 20-year-old friend told authorities they were walking through the park when they encountered several other young people.

The man, who wasn’t identified, said he walked past and thought his friend was still with him.

He told detectives he heard a sound behind him and turned to see the teenager staggering toward the alley before collapsing.

Detectives are investigating but had made no arrests Tuesday evening.
