Airport Passenger Traffic Declines

From Staff Reports

Spokane International Airport’s passenger traffic continued to decline during May from its recordsetting pace of the previous year.

Airport officials report that 243,244 passengers got on or off airplanes at the facility in May. That’s 11.5 percent fewer than in May 1996.

Year-to-date, 1.3 million passengers have used the airport, a decline of 9.34 percent from the first five months of 1996.

Air cargo activity at the airport is still going up, though.

During May, 4,442 tons of freight and mail came through the airport, a 3 percent increase over the same month a year ago. For the first five months of 1997, air cargo increased by almost 14 percent over the same period in 1996. , DataTimes
