Sandpoint-based retailer Coldwater Creek Inc. said Wednesday a rush of catalog orders pushed retail sales to $23.6 million in the first fiscal quarter of 1997.
The company, which sells women’s and men’s clothing and gifts through catalogs and six stores, reported sales increased 116 percent compared to the same quarter a year ago. Net income increased 109 percent, company officials said.
First-quarter earnings were $3.4 million, or 20 cents a share, compared with 1996 first-quarter earnings of $1.63 million, or 10 cents a share.
Coldwater Creek said other factors in the increases included the addition of a men’s catalog last year, expanding the catalog’s circulation, aggressively expanding customer files and customer response to the spring wardrobe line. , DataTimes
