Captive Free To Visit Zion Lutheran’s Vacation Bible School

Zion Lutheran Church is gearing up for an adventure next month.

The church’s vacation Bible school, “Adventure Fair, God’s Kids in Action,” will run July 14-18. It is open to all children age 4 through sixth grade.

Special guests Captive Free, a musical ministry team of college students based in Minnesota, will be on hand during the week.

They will be performing music and puppetry for the children.

Captive Free will also perform at the church’s 8:30 and 10:15 a.m. worship services on July 13, as well as at a public concert at 7 p.m. on July 15.

The children will also play outdoor games, have special story times, and sing songs. The Bible school will run from 9 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. each day. There is no charge to attend the school, but donations will be accepted. Each child attending will receive a T-shirt.

Parents may register their children at the church, 8304 E. Buckeye, on the first day of Bible school or in advance by calling the church office at 926-5407.

Grab those hats and spurs

Children are invited to grab their hats and spurs for the “Wild and Wonderful Good News Stampede” July 14-18 at Pines Baptist Church, 714 S. Pines Road.

The weeklong vacation Bible school with a western twist is open to all kids age 5 through the sixth grade.

Classes will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The children will have the opportunity to make crafts, sing songs, and will learn a musical that they will perform on parents’ night, which begins at 7 p.m. on July 18. Registration for the free Bible school will be held before class on Monday, July 14.

Volleyball at St. Pascal’s

St. Pascal’s Catholic Church, 7404 E. Marietta, is offering a weekly evening of volleyball for junior high and high school students.

Students meet each Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the church to play volleyball, enjoy snacks and offer praise and prayer.

St. Pascal’s is also offering a vacation Bible school July 7-11 to children in kindergarten through sixth grade. For more information or to register, call 924-4871.

Members of Baha’i assembly named

Several Valley residents have been named to the Baha’i Local Spiritual Assembly for the Spokane Valley.

The members, who make up the local governing body that oversees the organization and development of the local Baha’i community, will serve until April of 1998. The members are: Geralyn West, Mary Beth Bertis, Vic Bertis, David Simmons, Jilla Simmons, Joe Urlacher, Marsha Urlacher, Brenda Beaulieu and Steve Beaulieu.
