Suspect In Vacuum Cleaner Scam Sought

From Staff And Wire Reports

Police have identified a Spokane man suspected of running a door-to-door scam, preying on elderly Spokane residents.

Officers investigating complaints from residents on East Wedgewood are searching for Johnny Lopez, 52.

Lopez has allegedly approached several residents, offering to check vacuum cleaners for problems, “repairing” them and demanding large payments for his services.

Lopez, who is 5 feet 11 inches tall, 145 pounds with brown hair and eyes, has a history of bilking people, police said.

Anyone who has seen Lopez or believes they were ripped off by him is asked to call Detective Jan Pogachar at 625-4179.

Residents are warned to be wary of solicitors and always ask for identification that can be verified with an employer and the Better Business Bureau.
