Last Septuplet Dies In Mexico City

Compiled From Wire Services

The last surviving septuplet born to a Mexico City woman who had taken a fertility drug died Sunday.

Dr. Eduardo Torres said the boy, Fernando Fabian, died of lung failure Sunday.

He had weighed about 2-1/2 pounds. He had been feeding through a tube since his birth on Jan. 21, when he weighed less than 2 pounds.

The seven babies were born during Maria Rocio Diaz Carrillo’s 28th week of pregnancy.

The 28-year-old mother said last week that she felt the children were “slipping through my hands.”

There are no known sets of surviving septuplets in the world.
