Cda’s Davis To Get His Kicks At Ricks

Coeur d’Alene High placekicker Ben Davis has signed a letter of intent to play at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho.

Davis, a Spokesman-Review All-North Idaho selection, also plans to try out at wide receiver.

He was offered a scholarship after being recommended to the junior college by the Brigham Young University coaching staff.

“He’ll have an opportunity to go on and play (Division I) somewhere,” said Bill Anderson, who resigned recently as Coeur d’Alene head coach. “He’s excited about this.”

Volleyball

Two more Coeur d’Alene High standout volleyball players have signed letters of intent.

Setter Kimi Towery, a three-year starter, will attend Rocky Mountain College.

Outside hitter Jessica Janke will continue her career at Southern California College, an NAIA school in Costa Mesa.

CdA High coach Karla Mitchell also received news that middle blocker Angie Shirley, who earlier signed to play at Oregon State, has been named the Gatorade Circle of Champions Player of the Year in Idaho.

Eastern Washington’s Tanya Kirk, a Central Valley High School graduate, was named to the Big Sky’s all-conference women’s basketball team announced Tuesday.

Montana’s Angella Bieber, a University High School graduate, was chosen outstanding sixth player.

Montana State senior Blythe Hommes was voted the outstanding athlete and Montana’s Lauren Cooper was chosen freshman of the year.
