Council Votes To Vacate Land

The Spokane City Council vacated land to the Spokane Transit Authority on Monday so the public transit system could square off its property lines.

Council members voted unanimously to vacate Jefferson Street from Sharp Avenue to the south line of the alley. They also vacated a small piece of land next to the railroad right-of-way.

In other North Side business, council members on Monday:

Set a public hearing before the hearing examiner for April 8 at 1 p.m. in City Hall to set property tax assessments to pay for paving Rebecca Street from Wellesley to Nebraska avenues and Nebraska from Freya to Florida streets.

Established parcels and assessments for paving and adding curbs, sidewalks and water to Nevada Street from Holland to East Hawthorne roads, and to East Hawthorne from U.S. Highway 2 to Nevada. Council members also set parcels and assessments for paving and adding curbs and utilities to Colton Street from Jay Avenue to Holland, Holland from U.S. 2 to Nevada and Hoerner Avenue from U.S. 2 to Colton.

Set a public hearing before the hearing examiner for April 8 at 3 p.m. in City Hall to form a local improvement district for paving the alley between Taft Drive and Indian Trail Road, from Elmhurst Avenue to Indian Trail.
