Long Island University Makes Men’s Ncaa Field

Charles Jones, the nation’s leading scorer, had 21 points and Long Island University clinched its first trip to the NCAA tournament in 13 years, beating Monmouth 72-67 Thursday in the Northeast Conference championship game.

Playing in the old Brooklyn Paramount building, LIU (21-8) won its 12th straight home game. Mike Campbell had 22 points for the Blackbirds. Corey Albano kept Monmouth (18-11) in the game with 33 points and 21 rebounds.
