‘Roseanne’ Leaving The Air
Despite word that Roseanne considered doing another year of her ABC series, producer Carsey-Werner has confirmed the show will end this spring.
Roseanne recently approached ABC seeking one more year.
ABC, which pays $2.5 million for each episode, felt the cost of another season wouldn’t be worth it.
“We’ve been informed that this is the last year,” a Carsey-Werner spokeswoman said.
“Roseanne,” on the air since 1988, tied in 1989 with “The Cosby Show” for TV’s No. 1 spot. However, there has been a distinct ratings erosion the past few seasons, and a lot of blasting by critics. The show is currently ranked No. 20 this season.
