Cda Police Arrest Suspect In Attempted Child Abductions Man Charged In One Case With Sexual Abuse Of Minor

Police on Wednesday arrested a man suspected of trying to abduct several children in the Coeur d’Alene area.

Timothy R. Krahmer, 22, of Careywood, was charged with sexual abuse of a minor in connection with one case.

Charges have not yet been filed in three other incidents, although three children have identified Krahmer as the man who tried to lure them into his car, said Coeur d’Alene Police Capt. Carl Bergh.

Prosecutors say they are still reviewing those cases.

On Wednesday, Krahmer was charged with a felony for allegedly offering to give a 14-year-old Lake City High School girl a ride home in February. The girl got into a man’s car, the man unzipped his pants, exposed himself and put his hand on the girl’s leg, according to a police report.

Although the man at first drove past the girl’s house, he let her out of his car a short time later without touching her further, according to the report.

A 13-year-old girl said she was approached twice by a man in February while walking to her school bus stop.

“Come on honey, get in the car,” the man told her the first time, according to police. The girl ran home instead.

A few weeks later, the same man approached her again, telling her “You wouldn’t get in my car last time. You’re going to get in this time,” the report said.

The man then pulled the girl in the passenger side of the car. While he was walking around to the driver’s side, the girl noticed there was no handle on the inside of the door. She told police she then crawled out a window and ran to safety.

A Coeur d’Alene boy told police that he was near Sorensen Elementary School when a man drove up to him and said, “If you get in my car, I’ll buy you lots of candy.”

When the boy refused, the man drove away.

In January, a 9-year-old girl was selling candy bars door-to-door when two men in a car stopped and asked her if she needed a ride home.

She told them no, but the driver told her to “get in the car” and the passenger opened his door, police said. The girl ran to a nearby house.

Each of the children gave similar descriptions of the men and cars involved.

Based on descriptions from the children, police released a sketch of the suspect. A person who recognized the sketch told police they thought the man was Krahmer.

Police arrested Krahmer Wednesday at the Bonner County Jail, where he was being held for failing to appear for an unrelated court hearing. According to Bonner County records, Krahmer was previously charged with driving without privileges.

All four of the children picked Krahmer’s photograph out of a photo montage, Bergh said. The girl who said she saw two men also identified Krahmer’s car as the one she’d seen.

Police are unsure whether another man was involved but are looking into the possibility, Bergh said.

Krahmer is being held on $50,000 bail at the Kootenai County Jail.
