Players And Spectators Renovation Expands Casino, Devours Bowling Lanes

Players and Spectators is undergoing a complete renovation.

Already completed at the 50,000-square foot entertainment facility at 12828 E. Sprague is expansion of the casino, which now includes blackjack.

Still under construction is the transformation of 16 bowling lanes into a restaurant, lounge, game room and pool hall. Twenty-four bowling lanes will remain. Also, within the dining room, there will be a mini-basketball court for diners to watch wanna-be NBA players.

About 100 27-inch televisions will be throughout the facility. “You’ll be able to watch just about every professional football game and every college game on TV,” said manager Lance Rinard.

The game room will have video games simulating such activities as Alpine skiing, auto racing and jet ski riding.

The restaurant will feature wood-oven pizzas, prime rib, baby back ribs and oven roasted shrimp. Most of the entrees will cost less than $10, said Rinard.

Construction is expected to be completed by May 1.

Koerner Furniture opens in Valley

Koerner Furniture of Coeur d’Alene has opened a store in the Valley at the former site of Furniture 1900.

Owners Barbara and Richard Koerner, who’ve been open in Coeur d’Alene for 17 years, signed a lease for the building at 6404 E. Sprague on Jan. 1. The couple opened the showroom a month ago after painting and redecorating it. They intend to repaint the outside as soon as the weather improves, Barbara Koerner said.

“We’re in Spokane all the time for deliveries so it made sense to open a showroom,” she said.

Koerner’s carries a variety of furniture lines such as Natuzzi leather, Berkline recliners and Flexsteel sofas and loveseats. The store also carries Simmons bedding and two dining and bedroom furniture lines.

It will be a month or so before the Valley store is fully stocked, Koerner said.
