Mercer Island Ends Bulldogs’ Hopes For Title

Sophomore Josh Fisher came off the bench to contribute 16 points and senior Elliott Prasse-Freeman added 14 to go with nine rebounds as Mercer Island beat Mount Vernon 61-57 to win the boys State AAA high school basketball tournament Saturday night.

The Islanders (28-2), who also won championships in 1985 and 1993, kept the Bulldogs (27-1) from an undefeated season and their first Class AAA title. Mount Vernon won the AA tournament in 1991 and 1992.

Diron Mobley added 10 points for the Islanders.
