3 Passengers Hurt When Car Hits Pole

Three passengers were injured when a suspected drunken driver crashed his car into a North Side power pole shortly before midnight Saturday, police said.

Passenger Tiffany B. Ware, 28, suffered head injuries. She was listed in serious condition late Sunday at Sacred Heart Medical Center.

The other passengers - Amy L. Smith, 29, and Daniel J. Joy, 24, both of Spokane - were treated and released.

The driver was arrested for vehicular assault and booked into the Spokane County Jail.

Aaron J. Renner, 24, of Spokane was driving north on Washington Street when his car veered off the road and hit the pole just north of Cataldo, police said.

Renner, who wasn’t injured, was the only person in the car wearing a seat belt, according to police.
