Tyrone Nesby scored 26 points, including six in overtime, as UNLV beat Hawaii 89-80 Monday night in Las Vegas in the second round of the NIT.

UNLV, which lost both its regular-season games against Hawaii, will play Arkansas in the quarterfinals.

Arkansas 76, Pittburgh 71

At Fayetteville, Ark., Kareem Reid had 15 points and 10 assists, and Pat Bradley’s 3-pointer put the Razorbacks (17-12) ahead for good in a victory over the Panthers (18-15).

Reid made two big plays in the final 2 minutes. He fired a pass to Ali Thompson for a basket that made it 71-67, stole a pass and flipped it behind his back as he was going out of bounds, and got the ball to Derek Hood for a basket that made it 73-67.

West Virginia 76, NC State 73

At Raleigh, N.C., the offensive-minded Mountaineers (21-9) turned to their defense in the second round of the NIT, confusing the Wolfpack (17-15) with a variety of zones and then getting some key foul shooting down the stretch to pull out a victory.

West Virginia was led by Seldon Jefferson’s 19 points and a 13-for-15 team performance from the foul line in the final 1:33 to hold on at hostile Reynolds Coliseum.

Florida St. 68, Michigan St. 63

At Tallahassee, Fla., Randell Jackson had 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Seminoles (18-11) to a win over the Spartans (17-12).

Jackson, a 6-foot-11 sophomore, grabbed his final two rebounds and sank two free throws in the last 11 seconds to seal the victory for Florida State.
